We had our second walk-through on Feb. 10. Everything looks great with the exception of 3 minor issues that the builder is working on correcting now. Here are 2 more pictures of the progress:

It has been a while since I have written. A lot has happened, but one of the biggest events is that we are getting a new house. Sheac Yee and I are both really excited about it. It is a new construction and about 5 minutes away from our current house. There are not many useful pictures yet, but here is what is done so far.

My oldest daughter went to her first day of preschool today. She seemed to really like it. I am glad that she did not cry and hold on to our legs like you see in the movies.
Me: Okay Mekayla, mommy and I are going to go now. You have fun in school.
Mekayla: Bye-bye daddy. (without looking up from the blocks she was playing with)
Me: Can I have a hug?
Mekayla: Uh-huh. (gives a quick hug and goes back to playing)
Maybe a little more concern would have boosted my ego
When we picked her up, she was happy to see us, but still independent.
Mekayla: I’m glad you and mommy came back Daddy. (said matter-of-factly)
We picked her up and she had only good things to say about it. I hope all of her school days are as happy.

On Tuesday, Nadia took her first steps. It happened at Andrew and Abbey’s house. I missed the first steps, but after work Andrew and I picked up Thai take out and went over to his house and all 6 of us had dinner there. After dinner, Nadia did some more walking. Abbey captured some of it on her camera.

I have had this blog for a few months now and put together some posts. Additionally, I have read a lot of blogs lately. I think it is time to drop the ‘WTH is a Blog?’ title. The phrase points of interest comes up a lot these days with Internet directions and GPS. They are interesting places along your journey. That is kind of what I think a blog should be - some interesting information about your life journey.
To commorate the change , I have updated the theme as well. I hope you like it. Feedback is welcome.

Well it’s the new year and time for resolutions. I haven’t had the best track record for resolutions so maybe if I post them, I will do better.
1. Lose some weight - 5% body fat seems like a good goal
2. Organize my study (it really is a mess)
3. Develop http://www.4hamiltons.com
4. Organize the garage
That seems good. Let’s see how these go

Yesterday morning, I decided to give Mekayla yogurt for breakfast. She is feeding herself these days so we have been sticking to safer items like cereal without milk and bananas for breakfast, but I was thinking that she might be getting bored of the same old stuff so I asked Sheac Yee to pick up some other items the last time she went shopping and yogurt was one of the things that was on the list. I know - it can be messy, but I was thinking that now might be the time to introduce her to something more challenging. The first time I gave her yogurt to eat by herself was last week and she did okay. I sat with her and watched the whole time and she got a little bit on her but mostly did okay. So yesterday, I gave her the yogurt and the spoon and went upstairs to check my email while she ate. I came back down to find her with yogurt dripping down her chin, a pile of yogurt in her lap, a handful of yogurt in her left hand and her right hand shoved into the cup! I got some baby wipes and started cleaning up. As I was cleaning her, I decided to try to discipline her a bit so that next time she would be more careful. Here is how that conversation went:
Me: Mekayla, you made a big mess. Daddy is very sad.
Mekayla: Daddy sad? (sounding concerned)
Me: Yes, Daddy doesn’t like it when you make a mess and now I am sad.
Mekayla: I sorry daddy.
Me: Okay, but next time don’t make a mess. (in my soft but stern voice)
Mekayla: Daddy still sad?
Me: Yes, you made a mess and daddy is sad.
Mekayla: Mekayla sing? Make daddy happy?
Me: No baby, daddy is sad because you made a mess and singing won’t help.
Mekayla: sings all 3 verses of Twinkle, Twinkle (see previous post to see how cute that sounds)
Mekayla: Daddy happy now?
Me: No response.
Well, I wasn’t upset anymore. She used her charm and was able to make a huge mess and in the end everyone was happy. I am not sure if it the first time she has done this to me, but it was the first time that I noticed. I think I am going to need some help to figure out how to discipline her when she turns on the charm

On Friday night, while putting Mekayla to bed, I kissed her and told her that I loved her like I do every night. What made Friday different was that she replied “I love you too daddy”. Now this isn’t the first time that Mekayla has told a parent that she loves them. She has been telling mommy that for weeks. But this is a first for daddy
and definitely worth mentioning here.
